The man who leaves his team in

and water for hours at a time is a
brute and deserves to sutler a greater
punishment.

When our new county is organized
and the county seat located at Gaff
ney, Gaffney will build the court
house and jail. It will not cost any
one outside of Gaffney one cent.

ing primary, August 25th, should

will be debarred. There is a club

The Gaffney City colored lodge of
the Grand United Order of Odd Fel
lows No. 2(H(», will dedicate their new
hall in the southern part of the city
on Saturday the 22nd. There will be
an address by S:tn Wiggins, the
Grand Deputy of Spartanburg dis
trict.
H. C. Huskey and Miss Z. S. Alli
son were married last Sunday morn
ing tit ID a. m. by Rev. W. T.
Thompson at his home. The parlor
was crowed with ladies and gentle
men to witiiesa the affair. We hope

The Columbia State is a most ar
dent supporter of Jiryun and Sewell.
Its silver arguments are forcible and
it is supporting the cause because it
believes in the principle and not be
cause it is a popular fad. Rut then
it is not a rare thing for a Gonzales
to work for principle. Jn this issue
they advertise special campaign

Death of Miss Lillie Moscly.
Miss Lillie Moscly died at S o’clock
Saturday night at the homo of her
parents in this city.
Miss Moscly was the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Moscly, formerly
of Union county. She was a member
of Skull Shoals ISaptist church.
rite remains were interred at Cor
inth graveyard Sunday afternoon in
the presence of a large concourse of
friends.
The sympathy of the community
goes out to Hie bereaved parents.

Queen City the past week spending
his vacation with his parents.
Mrs. R. A. Robison and Mrs. W.
M. Rotnar, of Spartanburg, are visit
ing Mrs. A. V. Montgomery and other
relatives in this city.
Mr. Rufus Whitesides, a prominent
farmer of 5 ork county, was in the ;
city last Friday prospecting with a
view of moving his family here. He

John 0. Tate, of Asbury paid us a
visit last Monday. Mr. Tate is a

Robt. F. Gibson, one of the up-to-
date men of the Cherokee section,

J. G. Moore, of Gouchor, was In the
city last Monday. Mr. Moore is one
of The Ledger’s best friends in that

Mayor A. N. Wood has been so
journing in the mountains the past
week.
F. G. Stacy made a flying trip to
North Carolina last Thursday.
N. II. Littlejohn went to the ’Rurg
Tuesday on building and loan busi

E. P. Macomson, Esq., of tyerper,

Herod Neale, of Hickory Grove,
was in the city last Monday visiting

W. H. Brown left Monday for
