Gaffney is twenty-one miles from Spartanburg and twenty-eight from Union. The dividing lines between these counties runs very near t he town of Gaffney. The two townships in Union, north of I’acolet river have in that river, a natural boundary which cuts them off from the rest of Tat county and makes her people look elsewhere for a market than at her county seat.
