A NEW COUNTY.
Gaffney is twenty-one miles from
Spartanburg and twenty-eight from
Union. The dividing lines between
these counties runs very near t he
town of Gaffney. The two townships
in Union, north of I’acolet river have
in that river, a natural boundary
which cuts them off from the rest of
Tat county and makes her people
look elsewhere for a market than at
her county seat. The belt of land
between Broad and I’acolet rivers
naturally looks to Gaffney, which
lies near its center, us its outlet.
