C. course was served after the games. % % V MRS. PERRY BUSH HONOR GUEST AT LOVELY PARTY. Ellenton, Sept. 16.—Mrs. W. E. Ash ley, Mrs. Z. D. Miller and Mrs. T. S. Dunbar, Jr., were joint hostesses Fri day afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ashley at one of the loveliest parties given here in some time, honoring Mrs. Perry Bush, of Barnwell, a re cent bride. The garden of the Ashley home, with it s shrubbery and carpet of green grass, formed a perfect setting for the beautifully gowned women. The many colors of the dresses formed a veritable rainbow. After greeting the bride, the guests were asked to register in the bride’s book, which was presided over by Mrs. W. H. Jones. A large vase _of yellow golden glow was placed on the table hy Mrs. Jones. After mingling together for a few minutes a number of the guest s were asked to v pick an “apple” from the tree of knowledge. The “apples” were vari-colored \>alls of paper, each con taining directions for some stunt. Much merriment was created over the performing of the stunts. The bride was led to a nook just off the porch, which wa s marked by a lovely rainbow, arched from one pil lar of the portecochere to the other. A yellow shaded light placed in the center cf the rainbow lent brilliance to the scene. Mrs. Bush found many handsome gifts at the foot of the rainbow. The packages had been re ceived and placed there by little Miss Carrie Jean Ashley, lovely daughter of Mrs. Ashley. After opening and displaying the gifts, the bride, in a charming man ner, expressed her thanks. Miss Louise Cassels and Miss Gladys Owens served punch and cake throughout the afternoon from a prettily appointed table in one corner of the garden, the punch bowl being placed in a nest of pink Mexican roses and fern. Andrews, 52-year old construction engineer, cf Augusta, dropped dead at his home Monday night while sitting down talking to his family. He had previously been in good health, it was said. The family physician was called and pronounced death as a result of hesrt failure. Mr. Andrews, whe made h s home in Barnwell several years ago, is sur-} vived by his wife, Mr*:. Mary Biggar Andrews, and two adopted children; three sisters, Mis. George M. Him- minger, Mrs. Edmund N. Joiner and Mrs. Marie Andrews; four brothers, Archibald, Walter, Eii sen and Oliver Andrews.
