MRS. PERRY BUSH HONOR
GUEST AT LOVELY PARTY.
Ellenton, Sept. 16.—Mrs. W. E. Ash
ley, Mrs. Z. D. Miller and Mrs. T. S.
Dunbar, Jr., were joint hostesses Fri
day afternoon at the home of Mrs.
Ashley at one of the loveliest parties
given here in some time, honoring
Mrs. Perry Bush, of Barnwell, a re
cent bride.
The garden of the Ashley home,
with it s shrubbery and carpet of
green grass, formed a perfect setting
for the beautifully gowned women.
The many colors of the dresses formed
a veritable rainbow.
After greeting the bride, the guests
were asked to register in the bride’s
book, which was presided over by
Mrs. W. H. Jones. A large vase _of
yellow golden glow was placed on the
table hy Mrs. Jones.
After mingling together for a few
minutes a number of the guest s were
asked to v pick an “apple” from the
tree of knowledge. The “apples” were
vari-colored \>alls of paper, each con
taining directions for some stunt.
Much merriment was created over the
performing of the stunts.
The bride was led to a nook just off
the porch, which wa s marked by a
lovely rainbow, arched from one pil
lar of the portecochere to the other.
A yellow shaded light placed in the
center cf the rainbow lent brilliance
to the scene. Mrs. Bush found many
handsome gifts at the foot of the
rainbow. The packages had been re
ceived and placed there by little Miss
Carrie Jean Ashley, lovely daughter
of Mrs. Ashley.
After opening and displaying the
gifts, the bride, in a charming man
ner, expressed her thanks.
Miss Louise Cassels and Miss
Gladys Owens served punch and cake
throughout the afternoon from a
prettily appointed table in one corner
of the garden, the punch bowl being
placed in a nest of pink Mexican roses
and fern.
About 90 guests were present on
thi s lovely occasion, a number of them
