Coleman, of Columbia, has been appointed as the fifth member of a commission to mveetigate the oil and gasoline situation in South Carolina, it was announced yester day afternoon by John M. Daniel, attorney general of South Carolina. The appointment was made by Mr. Daniel in accordance with an act of the last general assembly by which two melhbers of the commission were to be appointed by the senate and two by the |iouse of representatives, the fifth to be appointed by the at torney general. Other members of the commission are: Senator J. -Howard Moore, of Abbeville, Senator Pat Wall, oi Beau- for, Representative J. E. Harley, of Bamweil, and Representative J. L. Love, of Gdeienville. Thej commis sion will probably- meet shortly, Mr. Daniel said, to investigate the situa tion and to see if South Carolina is being, discriminated against in prices Rerival at BHenton. State Constables Sent to Ellenton Ellentton, August 6.—Governor J. G. Richards sent two state constables from Columbia to aid in apprehending the gang of robbers who have perpe trated forty robberies, involving 20 business houses in this section during the past two months. Contables Rich, ardson and Cunningham were detail ed to the work and they arrested two negroes in addition to eight previous ly held and it is now believed the gang is broken up. The wholesale robberies constitut ed the most notable depredations ever made in this section and the fact that the gang has been arrested affords much satisfaction among the people of this section of the state.
