J IN JUST TWO DAYS the greatest battle of ballots ever staged in South Carolina will come to an end, and three candidates will be made happy jvith beautiful motor cars, while others will come into possession of elegant awards for their remarkable efforts during the People-Sentinel’s big subscription drive. Two days, all two short, will roll rapidly by and at 9:00 p. m., Saturday, this great campaign will be declared closed. v X . * And the candidates working with every ounce of energy at their command are going to surprise even themselves at the results they will obtain. The campaign has been so widely advertised that the American in stinct, that desire to help the person who shows a disposition to help themselves, is sure to assert itself, and many who failed to subscribe earlier in the campaign or who promised to subscribe later are now in that en thusiastic state of mind when they are not only willing but anxious to get into the game and support their favorite by taking a subscription which may bring the votes needed to win a bigger prize. All candidates, especially those who live in the outside districts, should read and weigh every line carefully. • TO ASSURE ABSOLUTE HONESTY TO EACH AND EVERY CANDIDATE, AND AT THE SAME TIME GIVE THE CAMPAIGN MANAGER THE THRILL *TO WHICH"HE IS ENTITLED, THE FINAL REPORT WILL BE PUT IN THE BALLOT BO* INSTEAD OF GIVEN TO THE CAMPAIGN MANAGER. THIS GIVES ONE AND ALL AN EQUAL SHOWING AND LEAVES' NO OPENING FOR THE PUBLISHER OR CAMPAIGN MANAGER TO BE ACCUSED OF ANY UNFAIRNESS WHATSOEVER. • THE FINAL COUNT OF VOIIS^WILL 3E JUSi’ AS INTERESTING TO BOTH THE PUBLISHER AND THE CAMPAIGN MANAGER AS TO ANY ONE IN THE RACE. . I. —All subscriptions and remittances mailed fro.n now on should be mailed special delivery to insure their reaching ua in time. If you live outside of Barnwell and intend to mail subscriptions and remittances take the pre caution to find out what time your postoffice closes; also to obtain all possible information as to train service on the railroad which "Will carry your mail. ^ J X- 2.—AH subscrpttons and remittances should be care fully addressed to the Campaign Depanment The People- Sentinel, Barnwell, S. C. This will insure absolute ac curacy and will prevent any from going astray. 3. —Be sure your name and address is on every en velope before sending them to the Campaign Department. • 4 4. —Under no conditions will votes be transferred from one candidate to another. This is an absolute rule and will be strictly enforced. 5. —Second payments, must be marked as such on the subscription stub; also put down the amount of the first payment, so that the proper votes may be given. 6. —Candidates may send in their subscriptions and re mittances any time before .Saturday, 9:00 p. m. The bal- . lot box will locked and sealed Thursday evening and the key placed in the vault of the Home Bank of Barnwell. The ballot box wil Judahs for TRe finaT counting. * t 7.—It is very important that on the last few days of the campaigh all* remittances sent in by candidates or friends to be deposited in the ballot box should be made out in form of Postoffiee or Express Money Orders, Bank Drafts, Currency or Certified Checks. NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Absolutely no money will be refunded on subscriptions paid ' in during the campaign. * •" ’ • 8.—The final count of ballots will take place in' the Home Bank of Barnwell immediately after 9:00 o’clock p. m., Saturday, January 30th, and will continue until completed. It is impossible to say at jpst what hour the final results will be known, but speed and accuracy- will be combined until the finish of the count. * 9.—Candidates and their friends who can and desire are invited to be present and witness the final counting of the ^allots. Those living at a distance, who are not able to be present are guaranteed the same fair and square treatment as all other candidates. The Campaign Mana ger will safeguard their interests as, though they were here in person. If possible-your fir/al report should be^ delivered in person, Saturday, January 30th, before 6:00 o’clock, p. m. ■ 10.—-Enclose proper amount of money with each re port, totaled separately. Center receipt stubs must ac- v company the final report. II. —Every candidate Ivho remained active in the campaign, making a cash report each week from the time of entering, and who fails to win one of the nine prizes, ' will be paid a cash commission of ten per cent on ail sub- serptions' turned jji to this office to his or her credit. THIS M£ANS THAT EACH ONE MUST HAVE A FINAL REPORT IN tHE BALLOT BOX IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE COMMISSION. 12.—Telephone or telegraph immediately for sufficient- receipt forms and report blanks, etc., or if possible, call the office for same.
