IN JUST TWO DAYS the greatest battle of ballots ever staged in South Carolina will come to an end,
and three candidates will be made happy jvith beautiful motor cars, while others will come into possession of
elegant awards for their remarkable efforts during the People-Sentinel’s big subscription drive. Two days, all
two short, will roll rapidly by and at 9:00 p. m., Saturday, this great campaign will be declared closed.
v X . *
And the candidates working with every ounce of energy at their command are going to surprise even
themselves at the results they will obtain. The campaign has been so widely advertised that the American in
stinct, that desire to help the person who shows a disposition to help themselves, is sure to assert itself, and
many who failed to subscribe earlier in the campaign or who promised to subscribe later are now in that en
thusiastic state of mind when they are not only willing but anxious to get into the game and support their
favorite by taking a subscription which may bring the votes needed to win a bigger prize. The goal that these
busy workers have been striving for is about to be reached.
, * X.) x :
People who desire to assist them to win a prize before the end comes, are asked to ieave their remittances at
The People-Sentinel office. * • y * N ,
The race will end, as stated, at 9:00 p. m,, Saturday, and the wide-awake candidates will not waste one
minute of the intervening time. As a well-known paragrapher has said, “It’s never too late to do your level
best. Hope isn’t worth a hurrah without some personal assistance. When in doubt, dare.”
^ \ . . * • ' *
The closing of this campaign marks one of the most sensational and successful races ever pulled off by
any newspaper. All candidates are now on the final dash to victory and when the final count is registered
it will probably reveal some big surprises.
