Association. do lis Efforts ore being made, and they |)C promise to he very successful, to ostablish a Building and Loan Association. ^ Already hctween 150 and 200 shares have j been tftken here in town, and many more will be taken. It would be an excellent idea for overy citizen, in or out th of town, who can spare the money, to ra take a few of these shares. It only th; costs $1 per share, and upon each share ye the member pays an assessment of $1 th per month, being, on say 10 shares, $120 a year. The Association is wound up when oach of these shares becomes , n worth $200. This occurs in from six qc to eight years. Say it must run the full tv eight years, the holder of ten shares will havo paid in $960, and will draw out $2000, Now it is easy to say *'I can make more that than on $900 in eight Mi years, but you must b6ar in mind that th you-oiu not nave tne *uuu in lump, and it only accumulated dollar by dollar, nj, upon which alone you could not have made any interest. But the accumulation of the small sums makes an aggro- nn gate capital that can be handled and made to pay. Moreover, the holder of shares is entitled to borrow the full value of each share, $200, upon security of course. Though he pays tho same rate of interest that other borrowers K;f pay, if the Association is at all successful his share of the annuil dividends re- Cc duccs his interest. We can safely and heartily commend this Association to all our people. Our best business men arc going into it. In Anderson, Edgefield, Spartanburg, Columbia and elsewhere similar organizations ore in. successful operation. They supply, to soma ex- "c tent, the want of bank facilities. Wo hope our people from neighboring towns in the County, and from the he County, will take shares in the Associ- be ation.
