PUBLIC SALES LAST MONDAY A number of sales were made at the court house door last Monday by the Clerk of the court. The only sale that was to have been made by the sheriff's office, was called off by those who had ordered it. The Clerk made these sales: A tract of one hundred acres, more or less, known as the estate of Havannah Buffkin, in Floyds township, went off to J. H. Strickland for the sum of $2,000.00. The W. H. Rollinson place near Conway went to J. D. Montgomery for the sum of $3,200.00, subject to a mortgage held by the Federal Land Bank. One acre at Daisy, known as School House lot, went to Sherwood & McMillan, attorneys, for the sum of $376.00 the highest bidder. The land of J. H. Carter, was sold at the suit of S. M. McNabb and was taken in at the highest bid for $1,600.00. This ended the sales for the day. RmRRHOMFS A-?JL4 JL J.^XW AAV/i.!J.JLJkJ IN AMERICA With the endorsement of President Harding and the Governors of the various states, including Governor Wilson G. Harvey, a call is going out to all American communities to devote one week, October 914th, to demonstrate the advantage of building homes, and better homes. We understand that cities, towns, and villages all over the country are responding to the call, and organizing to this end. Will Conway organize and join in this movement, which we believe will mean much to our town and community? It is to be hoped that a meeting will soon be called to consider this matter, and it ia hoped that every man and woman will respond and do all they can to make this campaign a success. The National Committee has already been organized, and we want a local committee in Conway to work with the National Committee. Yours for Better Homes, J. C. SPIVEY. o LAWYER WELCOMED Aaron Sapiro, the worker of Cooperative miracles, attorney for the 140,000 organized tobacco farmers in Kentucky, Virginia and the Carolina*, and counsel for half a million organized farmers from the Atlantic to the Pacific was welcomed by a great mass meeting of growers, held in Mullins South Carolina Last week. l ^V( I A ATru DARLIN I BENNETT U polled full vo I CONWA m proua 01 it.
