THURSDAY, SEPT. 12, 1918 An easy way to burn money is joy riding. o Some people over-act and go backward instead of forward. o Only government regulation is keeping down the price of sugar. o Some politicians must now retire to private life and the enjoyment oi its shades. o Favors shown to others will bring favors in return. This does not mean that we must shower favors at all times. o We raise more now on one acre of land than farmers used to make on thirty acres. This is making some head-way in farming. The boys of the present day take after their forefathers who were wii. \ ing to shed the last drop of their blood in the cuu.se of liberty. o Some of the people arc wasting their liberty bonds and savings stamps money by blowing it out at the exhaust pipes of their automobiles, } - - ~ * o This country is large enought ami strong enough to bring down complete victory; but we must go about it iti meekness and humility at tigsame time. ? _o The high prices of everything that the people use will result in causing them to use loss of many articles than formerly; and in some case: they will cut out non-essentials. Conditions now are only an index to what they will be a year from now. Sacrifices mint be made ami elf d> nial must be practiced to a greatei extent than now, before the Hun b on his knees. o?? """ * i 1 ........ . i 'LIiero is one more u;mg w i- tai Fay about Slea -ism, aw ! that is tha we think more of the man wh< stands for lllease an 1 i. not ashame< to tell it than one who slam Is f'o him and votes for him and i.-> asliam ed to tell it. If you are eighteen years of ag and not yet arrived at forty-six, an not already registered as being 1>? tween twenty-one and thirty-one, < already in the service s of the govcri ment; you must register under tl new man-power bill passed last \ve< by Congress. In our last issue we published ; account of a farmer who will pla four crops on the same land in t course of 1918. In the Spring planted the land in potatoes and I bacco. The potatoes and tobac I were followed by pea vine nay, a this will be followed by a crop rye to furnish grazing for the stc in the Winter time. This is a gc example of progressive farming a teaches a lesson other planters woi do well to learn. THE HOMtT HPil 44T JUST want to thank you for Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin.
