McDermott died at ic Burroughs Hospital in Conway t 11:20 o'clock Sunday night, Sopember 1, 1918. at the age of sixtyao years. Her death was the reult of a stroke of paralysis which he suffered some days before her oath. She was ? sister of Mr. J. A. Melormott of Conway, and was a laughter of the late Charles and Salic McDermott of Green Sea, South Carolina. The funeral service was held at j iron Sea. the old home of the deeased, on Tuesday of last week, at leven o'clock in the forenon. Rev}. L. Hill of the Conway Baptist ^huif'h conducted the funeial exeriscs. o <NEAR ACCIDENT. The five year old child of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson came near to icrious injury by an automobile on Main Street last Thursday evening. Fhe machine was be my driven bv ?hree soldiers, and the child ran into the way of the machine as it was making a turn at one of the cross Streets. The child was thrown down and considerably shaken up, but otherwise uninjured. #>. RE1> CROSS FUND AT NICHOLS. We are adding this amount to what was made in the new Warehouse here and sending half to the Horry County Red Cross War Fund, through Mr. E. M. Mcares. o The cotton crop was cut short in the South as a whole by adverse conditions during August so that tli2 total crop estimate is short of what had been expected by'*hbcut a million and a half bales. This makes the out-look for a high price for cotton this Fall extremely good. The farmers of Horry county have good cotton crops and ill no doubt have a cnixl inn inn- when the eotton is sold.
