McDermott, of Conway, presided at the meeting, E. J. Sherwood, a member of the local bar, introduced Seymour Carroll. The speaker held his audience for more than an hour. The court room never held more people. At night by request, Carrol! spoke ac the negro Methodist church to an audience of business people and their families of the city, both white and colored, women and children. During the afternoon a picnic was had on the campus of the Whittemore Graded School for the negro soldier beys who left for Camp Jackson on Sunday morning. After the picnic a parade took place, headed by the Brass Band and a host of school, hiMron and farmers from all point?5 of the section.
