S. C. Morris, of the Horry In-I dustrial School, was in Conway Saturday, on his way to Dillon, where la represented the School Sunday. Mr. Morns is reaching a number of the towns in the State this summer, and! is meeting favorable response to his campaign for funds for a new building. There was a fine patronage given the School last year, both from this and other counties, and the prospects for the coming year are good. Improvements have been made in the plant, and the faculty has been strengthened by additional teachers, and a very fine course is offered both in the English and Commercial D* partments. The local board here is now busy passing on the claims for exemption made by these in the first 4(5(5 and will likely get through passing on these in about ten days. Notices will b' mailed to each and every one of his acceptance though the law provides that a list posted in the office of the board is sufficient notice of acceptance. Within five days after the mailing of the notice of acceptance the registrant, if he intends to ask for exemption on industrial grounds, such as being engaged in fanning* for ilist: nee, or in work necessary to the maintenance of the military establish rnent, etc., he must file his claim therefor with the district board and furnish affidavits in support of his claim within another five days ther-s, after. The decision of the tistrict board is final 011 these questions, and they have a wide discretion in soma respects. On Tuesday, according to a membet of the board, only 150 out of thp 150 appeared for examination. Out Df these 21 were exempted on physical grounds.
