Land will never be any cneaper in this part ox the country. i o The very man who has had the most free advertising is the first man to find fault with the paper in nine cases out of ten. u Children are being born every minute. Population in this country is steadily and rapidly increasing, but there is no new land being born or made. o Now that the cost of paper has gone sky-high, people are learning how to economize in the use of it. This applies to wrapping paper the same as writing paper. o More than ever do we advise the farmers to get their business on the pay-as-you-go plan. Quit trading this year on what you expect to make this year; but live this year on what you made last year is the way. o The farmer who gets any benefit from the rural credits law will be the same one who gets his loan and then spends it wisely. It may be easy to get it, but it will be also easy to spend it. He had better lay awake at nights studying how he shall put it out to the best advantage. o If you live in the country and visit a business man in the city, remember that while you only have perhaps one thing to attend to that day and can afford to be slow and take up his time, that the man you are calling on may have to see u hundred others from the country who want to see him just as much as you; and therefore you owe it to him to state your business as brief ly as you ran to make him under stand it and take up no more tinu than you need with him so he car wait on others. If you live in th( city and a man from the countrj comes to see you on business, treat him nicely and when he begins t< take up time that belongs to some inmd That'ir is in behalf of the other man and not meanness on your part that compels you to cut the interview short. The Telegraph accounts for the abandonment on the ground that it is felt tliat peace agitation is likely to arise in certain parts of the country in consequence of the offer of the Central powers and that ther*"1 fore the government has decided that an election should be held as a test of public sentiment.
