THE FOREIGN MISSION BOARD DEBT A * To the Pastors and I^aymen of the Waccamaw Association: The books of the Foreign Mission Hoard closed the first of this month with a debt of $180,000. This large ck-ht was not caused altogether by the shortage of contributions of last year, but has been accumulatini from year to year for the last seven years. At f.he Convention at Asheville, held week before last, the fact was brought plainly before the people that so long a* this debt was allowed to hang over the Board that the work would be gfteatly hampered by having to pay tvei a large sum of moi>-y every year, for interest on borrowed money. Some of the big hearted men and women present saw the importance of paying tliti- .debt at once and began to make pledges for the payment of same. Some few pledged as much as $5,000 n?vti from that down to $100. Some ol I he gwotl women even gave their watelvos, rings, etc., to be sold and placed on Uie debt.
