In no <ray would the farmers be more benefitted than by a little money spent in good roads to lead their heavy loads to market. ? O? T lie farmers of llorry County bid fair to have a good deal for which they ought to give when Thanksgiving Day comes round in November* ?O? The ideal would he when every man shall treat every other as his brother, doing unto him in all things as he would that he should be done by. ?O? This county is bound to have C( good roads in o ne way or the other. j,? There ij some hesitation on the part ,w of of the people to undergo the expense that better roads will neces- ^ wl arily entail, but they are coming re to it. Tbeir noses are on the grind m atone now, and if they have not or be opened up with the coin, they had w| just as # ell do it now. These things are bound to come, and this being the case, why not unbend at once, put up the money and bring the improvements along. I No matter what a man's calling may be, whether it is one of the highest positions in tha land, or one of the lowest occupations known to mankind, he cannot afford to do anything less than his boat in it, if he would bo called and known as a man. Those who fail to do it are lacking. ?O? Judges who come to Horry to try ; cases, get tirod of trying cases fur assault and battery. They often remark about the absence of larceny and forgery, and several other crimes considered worse in their nature than a mere assault and battery cuse. ?O? The amount of business done at Conway is increasing every day in the year. This is shown by the increased amount of freight being hauled into Conway over the rail roads and by the river steamers. < This fact appears by many other , things plain to an observing man, ( ?O? Anything tending to help the farmers will in the end be of great service to the whole world, The farmer is the backbone of the world anyway. I The cities and the towns of the land should bend every energy to improve the outlying agricultuij ul districts. In this way they will always be adding to their own growth and improvcmeLt -O? Horry County has a fine court house and jail. But the grounds around the court he use are subject to overflow in rainy weather.
