W 13 Carter, of Daisy, S C., was in Conway one day recently on business, J W Gfrrald, of Bayboro, was among the prominent farmers visiting Conway last week. 13 W Martin, of Toddville, was among the farmers visiting Conwav one day last week W E Porter, of Loris, S. C., was among those visiting Conway one day last week on business, going and coining on the afternoon train. Joseph M Gause and J P Todd, two prosperous farmers of Simpson Creek, visited Conway on business on last Wednesday. Reclaiming Low CountryJust now much is being hoard of the development of the back country by drainage, construction of roads and reclaimation of swamp lands for agricultural purposes It is gratifying to noto that this work is proceeding healthy strides. It means much for the coast counties of the State for not only will their lands be greatly enhanced in value, but it also means that the dreaded malaria will be driven out. It was Charleston county that set the pace in that section of the State in this great work. The result in that county is that line farming land is to be found today in a territory that, once was under water and uulit for human use. It is noted by the Charleston Post that only a few da}'s ago the initial steps were taken toward the drain age and reclaimation of the lauds of McClellanville, where the farmers have plans for impn'taut develop merit. Koad making is already Deing actively prosecuted on the Georgetown road between Charleston and McClellanville and it will not be Ion# before the iMcClellan ville people will be availing themselves of the new Slate drainage law. The work of the Charleston sanitary and drainage commission is taking on a larger sphere and on several of the islands about Charleston draiuage and land improvements are under , way. The Charleston paper says: 'Tnose development schemes have ' every assurance of success linancially and otherwise, and it is likely thai 4 wilh these companies getting to work there will be other companies organized, and it will not be long ' before the development schemes are : in cperat'on all over the coast section and thousands of acres of land will be reclaimed and made ready for settlers. A well formed movement is under way to bring settlers from the far Norihwest, and the rtciaimation cf the lands, row in progress tits in well with these plans of turning immigrants toward the coast counties of South Carolina." All of this augurs well not only for the coast section of the State but for every section. What benefits one section of the State will, to a more or less extent benefit every section. It is gratifying to note the progress that is being made in this reelaimatiou work?Greenville Piedmont. Constitution of Kingston Missionary J Baptist Church. The members who hud been baptised for the purpose of organizing 5 the said church assembled August ' (i.h, llill when Rev H G Fowler and Rev J 1) Hurrelsonand Deacons ( M O Anderson and J W Capps. who had been previously invited to or gairze said church were present. The council was organ'zad b.\ elect iig Rev 11 G Fowler chairman and Mrs VV E Sessions as secretary protcm. The council called the roll of members and J P Gore, O P Sanders, Walter Gore, J Alford, John Roberts, Mamie Tucker and Blanche Powell answered to their names Rev J D llarrelson delivered to the members an excellent charge. By a motion of the members of I the church Bro J P Gore was elected deacon and Bro W E Sessions clerk of the church; after which the chairman extended to the members the right hand of fellowship followed by the council and others. Deacon J W Capps then led in prayer, the council then adjourned with a few appropriate remarks by < Rev J D Harrclson The choir then sanjf "Praise God i from whom all blessings flow."
