Register for the town election. Myrtle Beach was the candidates' Mecca Ust Sunday, and many a dear voter was button holed. According to Dr J W Daniel, Pre-1 siding Elder Columbia District, "Co-1 lurxbia is the wickedest city south of Philadelphia." ^ ^ ^ The Columbia Record's man evi- : dently came to Conway with a full head of "bug juice" and saw mosquiotoes, ? Good roads are essential to the,' prosperity of Horry, and the way to get them is to vote the $100,000 j bond issue for good roads. The "Insurgent", if he is a Re publican in politics, is a patriot. If he is a Democrat, he is a traitor, according to the interpretation of the standards by the latter day saints. Conway has the reputation of being one the best tobacco markets in the State, and its two warehousemen are doing their level best tokeepupthat reputation. In the race with Death Joe Guns, the lightweight pugalist, came out victorious and reached Baltimore in time to see his parents before he shutHed olT this mortal coil. Good roads is what Horry needs and good roads is what Ilorrv must Vinir/i if if 5c tn fl mricli in n.iriMp.ul- ! ft J < % W I ft I W isl vvr ^ v.. . .. . Their efforts to secure a twelve foot chan"iiel of the Waccamaw river from Georgetown to Conway is appreciated by Conway. If you intend to vote for municipal officers for the town of Conway In the election to oe neiu next mourn, you should register, if you have not already done so. Sam P Hawes h the Supervisor of Registration It was a neat little game the gready octopus arranged to scoop up a large part of the loO.OOO appropriated by the. government for the improvement of the Waccamaw, but the watchful eyes of the Messrs Quatllebaum, father and son, caught on and checkmated it in its incipiency. i# Some of our people, those more directly interested, are becoming restless over the unaccountable delay in building the river bridges, j If it takes the Commission three or four years to arrange the crude preliminaries, how long will it take it '0,. to complete the two bridges? is a | burning question, I For i COMMODIG! WE ARE : ir Interest in Every Particulai .E5, Mgr., I*, m* < ??mmmmtmjmmm mim w ^ A vote for the proposed $100,000 bond issue for good roads does not mean increased taxes. Wo are now ! paying a road tax of two mills and it < is claimed, and we have no reason j to doubt it, that these same two j mills will raise each year a revennc i sufficient to meet the interest on the j bonds and leave a neat little sum as a a sinking fund to redeem the bonds J at their maturity. This being the j case there is no logical reason why 5 the bonds should not be voted. To I the contrary every consideration ap- q peals to the patriotism and good i, judgment of the citizen to vote & these bonds, especially so when we j are assured that we can have, good I mads without increasing our taxes j the hundredth part of a mill. ^ ? . n.. i i A 53 CHUKCII DI KKOTORV, j j I'll 10 - 15 YTIOK1AX Clll'llCU, HKV A S DOAK, l\W10It. 1 Preaching each 2nd Sunday at 11 a in- * and 8p in., and drd Sunday at. 11 a 111 ^ Pra)er meeting every Wednesday eve- j ning.
