* VOL XXIV. iSW Another Step Forward in the March of Progress. THRO TRAINJO WILMINGTON The People of Horry and of Wllmlnjtton are to be Cciiflrratulated on Havlnir Been Succeaaful In Their Effort to Still Further Im prove the Pattenxer Service in and out of Conway. Doubtless there was not one person in a hundred in all Horry who thought that we would so soon have a daily through passenger service to Wilmington when the suggestion was first published in the Herald a few weeks ago, yet the Herald is very much gratified to be able to inform its readers that this is no longer a mere supposition, a wild dream unlikely to be realized, as some of the doubting Thomases and calamity howlers have said, but is an assured fact, effective Monday, May 16th. Under thi^ convenient schedule a person can leave Conway, or, for that matter, any point along the line of railroad, in the morning and arrive at Wilmington at about 10 a m., transact business, or spend the day in sight seeing, and leave that city for home aoout 7 p m, of onmfl dav and bo at home at V*-* V- J about 11 o'clock that uight. The first information received in Convay conveying the pleasing information that Mr John R. Kenly, Third Vice Presidentof the Atlantic Coast Line had agreed to grant the request of the people along the line and the petition of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, was in the following letter from Mr W. H. Ohadbourn, addressed to J. W. Ogilvie, of the Herald force: "Wilmington, May 8, 1010. "Mr J. W. Ogilvie, "Dear Sir:?When I broached the subject in Conway of having the train run through from Conway to Wilmington in the morning and return the same day, I hardly believe there was a single man who thought it could or would be done, and yet next Monday morning, the lGth, the train will run through and they tell me it will run seven days in the week. I consider it a big thing for Horry. Yours, "W. II. Chadbourn." 1 Following this was the announcement of the Wilmington Star, that it had been difinitely settled by the " 1 3 1 4- " /inn r!n nn (ha (rain ranrouu pi-upie iu wunuuv, ?>m?u on through to Wilmington. This concession means much for the development of Horry, exceeding by far more that the first glance would show, ft is a conceded fact that a railroad can either make or kill a place, just as it elects to do, and there is no power under heaven that can stop it when it so wills. Illustrations of this proposition are too plain and too well recognized to need enlargement. The evidence is accumulating that the railroad people are taking a lively interest in the development and progress of Horry by making concessions beyond even the expectations of its most sanguine and warmest friends, all of which are b^und to result in only good to Conway. It now remains only for our paople to seize the opportunities made possible by the breaking down of the barriers which likethoChinese wall have so long encompassed us to our burtand injury in progress,in wealth, in culture and in refinement by taking a leading and prominent part in all legitimate enterprises tending to the uplifting of the peop'e and the upbuilding of our resources. If we make uu effort to accomplish this object just so sure as the night follows the day outside capital will step in and commence and carry on the great work of industrial development of which we stand so much in need. The railroad people have thrown wide Open our doors and people can come into the arcadia for capital, the fruitful field for development and the golden opportunity for industrial and agricultural progress? Bell, and took from them their darling little son, Joe Vprtis. ihe Pght and sunshine of 11heir home, lie was only spared to live with then? two years and two months but during this time, by its loving kindness won the friendship of all who knew him. Oa Thursday n'ght the sweet little darling retired seemingly in the best of health, but sometime in the night he awoke seriously ill. Drs Ayres and Bell were called to his bedside at once and all that medical aid and skill and loving hands could da could not stay the icy bands of death. Dr Ayres stood by it almost day and night and gave his best attention, but after all the attentive nursing it was soon seen that noth ing but death could relieve the little suiTerer. On the following Tuesday evening at 8:30 it breathed it last, but sometime during the day before it died, it looked and held its little hands heavenward with a sweet smile on its face as if it saw something that was beckoning it, and , again just before it breathed its last , it turned its precious head and point, cd toward heaven. I fully believe that it saw the coraiug of angels that are always waiting to welcome the loved ones home. The sweet I child died with some stomach troub, le. Oh, how hard it was to give i our darling up, but I know the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh and I ? can only submit to his blessed will , and be comforted with the hope i that we will meet the little darling > again where we will part no more } lie was buried the following day . at the new cemetery at Bell's chapel, i the funeral services being conductf ed by Rev Thomas Bell in the pres* ence of many sorrowing relatives . and friends. Deafness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube is inllmnd you have a rumbling sound or imperfect bearing, and when it is entiiely closed, Deafness is the result and unless the inflammation can b^ taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing willoe destroyed for ever; nine cases out of ten are caused by Catarrh, which is nothing but an inflimed condition of mucous surface.
