He held back the clouds and the rain and the cold until Sunday night in order to give tl e fair sex an oppotunity in which to display their new spring drosses and hats. The lumber is ready and on the ground for tne construction of another cistern for the tire department near the old court house. When this one is completed there will bo two largo supplies of water for use in ease of fire. They are the largest Salmon canners in the worl 1, employing on army of 7,500 men, with a fleot of over sixty vessels, and the Argo is the choicest Red Salmon packed. It is caughu in the icy waters of Bering Sea. The llesli is very fiim; of a beautiful red color and delicious flavor. We have heard it rumored that there will not be any excursions to Mvrile Beach this year. The excuse given is that all cars that can be possibly spared from regular sched| ules, will be needed in running excursions to the Jamestown Exposition. This minor cannot at this j time be verified but wo givo it to the Herald readers for what it is worth, trusting that there is no foundation in it. Michael Items. Tho people in this community are suffering with colds. We were glad to sec tho rain come and I imagine that the good women were more than glad to sec it as they are more concerned about their gardens than the men are. Mr W EGraham, of this community, who moved among us last winter, ?s making great improvements on his farm. With good manage rnent wo think he will make a success. He is a good neighbor and is thought well of by tlmm. Mr Andrew J Cox has just linished teaching three schools at Mt. Tabor. From reports it seems that Mr Cox has given pei feet satisfaction to the people whore ho has taught Mr Andrew J Cox is attending a business college in Columoia. Some lnotlis look very much like butter tiles, but there are two ways In . which you can always tell the one > from the other. The farmers are busy preparing for another crop. We wish our strawberry growers great success this spring. Our little town is now incorp' rated. Henry Harper is our town marshal We had a fine meeting here last week held by Dr L L. Nash, one of ttie finest preachers we have. Clarendon has organized a church and Sunday school. We have only lif-, teen members but hope to have more tn the future. May the Lord help us to be successful in our undertakings and get our new church. licv Sawyer will be the preacher for our town and there will be preaching and Sunday school on tin* fourth J Sunday in April at 4 o'clock at the new school house.
