THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18. 1906 A bridge across the Pee Dee that will give the people of Brit tons Neck access to Conway would be one of the best things that ever happened for the business and trade of outcounty seat The people of IPi tons Neck ate too far front Mat io. Court lions* and the reads loading court house and tin? r< u Is loading there are none too good. The)* are very much nearer here and their trade would come to Conway alter buildincr such a bri le. Our business men's union are constantly tiking n]> new things for the benefit of our business interests. We would like to see them take up and agitate this matter and do what they can to get the n idge. For years past Marion lias been drawing most of the trade from the north western section of Horry. With a bridge uniting Mucks townwith Mritton Neck this county will be in position to get back what she lias been losing from another section. This bridge lias been talked about very often and it went so far once as to raise the question of making Brittons Neck a part of Horry county. But talk isall that has ever been done. It remains for action to bo taken in definite shape aud get the bridge. If there is enough of money left from the building of the new court house and jail it should by all means be used in building bridges across the Pee Deo and across the Waccamaw at Conway. ii vuuwuy is tu cui: 1(1 uim.; in growvn and prosperity all such things must have attention. Conway kept her reputation for good health during the past summer. The Board of Health took every precaution within their powor to that end, and the Board got but little financial help from the town treasury. It is time now for tho Board to begin active steps again for another year. Something is expected during the next twelve months from the Commissioners of Internal Improvements. The court this week is devoted entirely to civil matters. Owing to the fact that the civil and criminal courts came together during tho same week for many years is likely to confuse the matter now in the minds of laymen. O..ZV -- II- ? II v /ni; uauTiiie usuitiiy iouows unothor and the bad luck to the growing crops this year may be followed by best seasons next year. The new jail will doubtless be ready for the prisoners at the spring court in 1907. Illood Poisoning. Results from chronic constipation which is quickly cured by Dr. King's New Life Pills. The buffalo Is tlie bulkiest living land animal native to North America. A full grown buffalo bull stands ubout five feet olght or ton Inches at the shoulder and weighs about 1,800 pounds. But specimens of ovor six ? feet at tho withers havobeen recorded, and Mr. Ilornaday tells me that he weighed a living bull at 2,100 pounds. A full grown cow stands about four , feet eight at the shoulders and, according to Audubon, weighs about 1,200 | pounds, though Henry says seldom over 700? or 800 pounds.
