It is now late in May and Uk farmers are all busy hi their crops, so busy, in mind and body, perhaps, that they are thinking very little of politics or even their school. Yet election day is coining, July, the beginning of a new school year is also drawing near. Neither of which should come and find ns unprepared to meet the issues of the day. The candidates will soon begin to creep out and announce them solves to the vo'ers. The school teachers either now or soon will want some understanding with the trustees and patrons about the sehool. And right here, let mc say, too that'll I am rightly informed this year there will be some changes in text used in public schools perhaps a complete change as was five veurs ago. The teachers should as early as possible get the list of new books and help the patrons in selecting the proper oues for the pupils. This can be done ve?*y well in late fall school where the teacher has been selected in time for him or her to organize and hold one or two day's session a few weeks before the real betnnnini? of the sebnel This day or two's session being devoted to examinations of pupils and making out lists of new books J needed by each pupil. | The above suggestions are plain and need but little thought to be J fully understood as to the conve* niences and advantages to both teacher and patrons. They call for co-operation of teacher, patrons and pupils. No school, let me venture to say, can be a success without co-operation j that "help ye one another," spirit. The successful school is a unit of which the trustees, patrons, teacher and pupils, each form a part, yes, and are a part. Now, then, a question and J will close, has a teacher right to exclude a pupil for disobedience who only refuses to study certain of the books suggested kir 4 k a 4aa/.kah a ^.1 - ~ - u - -1! 1 ujr kilo iicuvuci (iiju IS UUUU1CQI otherwise or has llio teacher the right and authority to suggest and force pupils to study such books as he deems besi ? For instance, a rupil is smart in all books but dislike geography and refuses to get lesson in it. The above question is intended of course for members of the county Hoard of Education but any one informed on the subject is free to answer it. Let us hear from teachers on subjects of interest to rural school-.. Drofla. lj^ath from Appendicitis decrease in the same ratio that the use of Dr Kiug's New Life Pills increases.
