I'lcasant Hill Everything seems to be very quiet at present. We are glad to see the work on the new ruilroad progressing so nicely since the trouble which occurred some days ago, has been dropped. The school did not begin at this place ns published last week on account of Mr. Bryant being sick. But we were glad to see him able to begin last Monday the ltith inst. Mr. and Mrs 1). 1'. Blackmail of Burcol, are visiting relatives and friends in this community. Miss Kdi'.h Iiabon of Burcol, took charge of the Bed Bill school last Monday. Mrs. Fred Spears and children of Marion, are visiting relatives and friends in this section. Edgar Bucks of this section had a run away Sunday p. in., on his re turn home after spending some time with some of our charming lassies. 1 4 - - nut on accouui oi ins management, or the mule's laziness, there was no serious damage as a result. Miss Susanna Jordan of Cool Spring, is teaching the Spring Hill school, and with the rest weare hoping much succoss. The contractors have finished their job of building a nice school house at Hog UlulT, and we are. glad to see a new church going up at that place also. Some one has said that we have hurt ourselves by voting out the dispensary, but 1 am sure that if we would put just one third of the amount which we have been spend ing for worthless dispensary to school purposes, and the other twothirds in impro /ements on lands of fertile Horry, we would not be hurt "cm ugh that you could tell it." 'Pecan. INixon villc. Health of this community is very good . Jack frost made his appearance on the 12th inst, but nothing killed. Cotton is not through picking yet. The Baptist Sunday school con ventiou convened at Tilly Swamp church on Saturday about 11 o'clock a. in. After some business trans actions the convention adjourned one hour for dinner, and went to a grove of pines where a large table was prepared and laid with good tilings which the good ladies of Tilly Swamp knew so well how to prepare. A large crowd was served bountifully and to spare, after which the convention unassembled and finished up t he business of the eon vrntion for the day. On Sunday at 11 o'clock the mass meeting assembled in the church and went through the program prepared for the occasion. The children acquitted themselves very well. After the exercises the Rev. Charlie Bullock preached an interesting sermon to a large congregation. The church was packed to its utmost capacity and not near all could get in the house. Among those attending from a distance were Mr, K. V. Best, Superintendent of Education, Mr. Park Rabon and sister, Miss Hlora of Hurcol, Mr. Kendrick Bossent and Sister. Miss. Essie of Little River, and Miss Louise Sloan of Little River. Miss Willie Watson one of Green Sea's charming young ladies came down with her cousin, Mr. Win. I Watson, who is teaching up there, to attend the convention . Misses Cook and Cox of Myrtle Beach, J. H, Neeiy of Savannah Bind, where he is teaching, and Sawyer the artist were here for a few days recently. fTlSoine rain just now would bo ben.eficial. Cor.
