We have no marriages to report at present but would not be surprised to hear the bell jingle at any time. Jot ton picking is pretty wellovor and as the price kept up very well people have been selling very rapidly. We hope noouc will sell cotton below ten cents as the stake is sure worth the money. Messrs. John Squires and M. S. Barnhill killed live wild turkeys Friday night which 1 would consider much better sport than shooting colored laborers. We trust that every good moral citizen of Horry is satisfied with the result of the election on the third but let me tell you some of the tipplers are looking very sad about tlih matter, We are st ill having a line Sunday School at this place. The weather has been fine for gathering of the crops and their has been so much cotton ginned in this community in September, and most of it has been put upon the market there is no doubt about the crop being vory short and very early, this being the case it will not last much longer. The public school at this place began last Monday morning under the faithful management of Miss Alice Owen, of Mullins, S. C., Mr. Frank Brown of Nebo, was vismng uerc Sunday. Capt. A. Ij. Thompson, Savage, S. C., was on our streets last Friday. Mr. John Johnson of Allison,S. C., was in our community last week on business. M. Johnson Atkinson, was visiting relatives here Sunday. We are glad that the people of Horry are blessed with mother wit, and manly get up, enough, to turn out on election day and free themselves from such an evil as the dispensary. They have taken a very important step, and we hope that they may keep on stepping in this way and at last reach the heights of success. A. C.
