Stalvey Fsq., and C. It. Scarborough, went down to tho beach last Friday on a fishing excursion. They had sonic luck with a seine. Miss McLcod of Hennettsville ar rived last week to enter upon her duties as teacher of music at Burroughs Graded School. She is jjet tin^ on well with her class. Johnson of Forney has accepted a irtisition as salesman in the store of Collins & Marsh, where ho will be glad to wait on his friends from the Forney section and elsewhere. Christopher Holmes, who was once a resident of Conway, died on Friday of week before last at New ton, Ala. His death is deeply mourned by his friends and relatives in this county. Miss Callie Reynolds recovered from a slight attack of illness last week and left on Wednesday's train to visit relatives at High Springs, K1 a., where she will remain until next Winter. John Uarrell, who recently cs caped from the county chain gang taking along with him a rifle belonging to the guard of that institution, was arrested by the authorities in Wilmington last week and held until our authorities could be notified. O. M. Ilarrelson was sent as a deputy to bring him back here, and he returned with the prisoner on the excursion last week Ilarrcil is one of the worst characters, this county has ever had to deal with. The better plan would be to send him to the State penitentiary.
