Bryant who has been in poor health for some months is gradually improving, a fact which his many friends appreciate. The truck farming interest is in creasing here, anil we are informed that vegetables arc now bringing a good price. The probability is that the acreage will be considerably increased in another yeai s time. The Methodist church here which has recently been coiled inside has been much improved in its interior appearance and comfort. During the thunder storm on last Sunday evening, the livery stables at A. \V. Jenkins Son caught on lire from a stroke of lightning and were burned to the ground, the tire spreading to the Livery and Sales stables of \V. K. Dorter, just across the avenue, and finally to his cot tago nearby, all laid to ashes de spite the efforts of a crowd of men to stay the ilamos. On account of long and severe ill noss, the Horry County Farmer's Institute was temporarily abandon ed and much disappointment was manifested by some of our most progressive farmers. As there is evidently a strong desire for its continuance, I thought it would be a good idea for all interested in the in the welfare of our community and the prosperity of the people, especially the farming class, to get together and arrange for a permanent institution. The object of said institution being to improve the condition of the farmers in general by discussing the different methods of agriculture and. adopting those which are found to be the most pract ical and cc momical.
