In Dillon on Friday it'was my pleasure to meet Mrs Zack Don aldson, ono Of Marlboro county's best ladies who is now a resident of Dillon. 1 also niet Mrs ? G Mills of WhiteV'illc, N C, one of tho towns eminent' ladies wlo was on a visit to her brother in Dillon. A fairly well lilied car load of Clio people attended the r?oes at Dillon on Friday. Several auto mobiles carried loads. All enjoyed thc races and were delighted to know that Marlboro county fur nished thc' fastest horse in Walter Drake's Alphonso. Miss Carrie Weill is spending her vacation at home, and will re turn to Kings business college in the fall to complete her studies. At the racc? at Dillon on Friday Drake's Alphonso proved to be thc king of the track, as no horse on thc ground could equal Alphonso in speed and Connor's Hoy Wilks is to be reckoned with in future ra ces. Everything passed off in a manner to.be enjoyed by all, ex cept an excess of booze was visible in a ease or two. At least half of the crowd was ladies with a con siderable number of babies but all were properly cared for and will possibly be present at the next ra too?vit? pa&acu away on r nu,ay night, victim of typhoid fever and was buried at Salem church on Saturday by thc pastor Kev Brabham and many friends. Mr Jackson prosed to be an accepta ble citizen and a faithful member of thc Baptist church giving it substantial support as a layman, at about three score years Of life. In death he left nine children and was lately married and leaves a second wife who in her bereave ment has many who also feel be reft of a s.auneh friend. In Robt Jackson thc county loses a quiet valuable citizen. Mr (Maud Hart is doing some line photographic work here now. Mr J D Crabb leaves for his home in Lake City Fla, Wednes day morning. At Hasty Monday I found the melon season coming in with thc watermelon prospect very bl ight but tho present price of cania loupes is discouraging.
