Already Ave stake races have b*?n arrunged for trotter* J and pacers. Purses will be offered for ! both harness and running horses. Between 14,000.00 und $7,?XX).<X> has been offered as prises for these races. The attractive prizes, together with the fact that so many of the Northern and Eastern tracks have had trouble with the racers, will make the entries here fair week the best aggregation of fast horses ever seen anywhere In the i South. Strings of horses from the most re nowned stable's In the country will be here fair week. With the rows nearly two mouths off. the entries for the stake races counted up to ninety-three, and It Is expected that more than a hundred of America's finest racers will be entered for the stake races. The purse races will be much al>ov<* the average this year. More money Is offered and better horses will be raced. The track has been put In apple pie order und the grandstands enlarged and reworked. This was necessary t? accommodate the Immense crowds that will witness all of the races during fair week, this being the first of the series In the Virginia-Carolina Circuit. There will be other sports. Davidson College plays Clemson on Wednesday, and the University of South Carolina plays Davidson College on Thursday. Mr. It. C. Keenan will have the races j in charge, and ho knows his business.
