The Woodman Celebration The Woodman Anniversary /Celebration on last Ftiday was a o occasion long to be remem bered bj the people of the county, District Deputy Butler and corps of atle assistants de serve great qredit for the com pleteness with which the pro. gram was carried out. The procession was formed a little later than the hour scheduled but the delay was more than compensated for by its up pearauce on the march to the utaml ut Hampton Park. Pre peded by mounted marshals, it wus headed by a float of Live Oak Camp No. 49 of Camden, which float was followed by that jof* Water Oak Camp of West Wateree. Theu carno the car riages containing the speakers, they being followed by Poplar Camp No. 379 in full regalia, and the other local and visiting sovereigns marching by twos, the procession ending with THE QOAT. The speakers were the follow ing: Hon. D. E. Finley of York ville, Mr. T. B. Butler of Gaff ney, Revv/L. A. Mitchell of our /city, Mr. Jonn Rsb Drake of Darlington, Hon. W. Hampton Cobb of Columbia and Mr. W. T. /Slaughter of Hickory Grove, JState manager of the W. O. W. x Where all did so well, it would not be fair to especiallycom mend the address of any indi vidual, so we simply remark that our people learned more of the objects and benefits of Wood craft from them than they would have learned in a lifetime by ob servation. It is safe to assert that fraternalism, as represented by our several fraternal orders received a tremendous push for wards and the effects of this /celebration will be felt years hence. The hit of the day was the re cital of a poem entitled Tlio Little Woodman, by little Miss Edna Butler, daughter of Mr. J. E. Butler. This poem was beautifully ren dered, the little lady showiug not the least trace of nervousness, and deliveriug the lines with in imitable grace and expression. We give the poem below: THE LITTLE WOODMANr /By W. 1'. Slaughter, State Manager.) J'm doln' on four years old, l'ui des a 'ittle dirl; My papa, he's a 'Oodman- ?
