Kodgcra died off con sumption at his booM in the ioutti ?ttt section of this county on Tuesday, the 28th nit. The funeral was held at Salem church on the following day. Ckl. Rodgers waa an old friend of ours, and we Join with the family. and friends in mourning his death. We regret to have to record the death of Mrs. W. C. Brown, which occurred at the family residence on Fair Street on Tuesduy morning, April 28tb, after several weeks of illness. The funeral services were con ducted by Rev. C. C. Herbert on Weduesday at the house. The deceased leaves a husbaud and several children to mourn her loss, to whom we extend sympa thy. I After lingering on the verge of the grave many months us tbo result of a paralytic stroke, Mr. E. S. Nettles, Sr., departed this life ou Sunday evening, the 3rd inst. Another useful life lias been snuffed out. A good hus band and father has left us, and his immortal spirit is now in that, bourne from whence no traveler ever returns We have lost a friend, and the community a good citizen. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Bratlou DeLoache in their hour of gloom over the loss by death on Monday of their little girl, a sweet child of two years of age. It was their only daugh ter, although they have other children. Died, at his home on Factory Hill on Friday, Lhe 1st inst., Mr. R. J. Davis of consumption and pneumonia. The deceased was a quiet, inoffensive citizen aud leaves a family to mourn his loss. Ths remains were interred at Mt Olivet churchyard ou Sun day evening. Mrs. H. Stokes of the Tiller's Furry section, died ut her home on Tuursday, the 30th inst., at Mio advanced uge of 84 years. The remains were interred the following day in the family bury ing ground. Shu is survived by seveu children lo whom we ex tend sympathy. Mr. Travis Barfield died at his home in this city on Thurs day, the 30th ult., after an all uess of some duration. He leaves a widow lo whom, as well as to the other members of his famiy, we extend sincerc sympathy. The remains were interred in i he Quaker cemetery ou Satur day morning, the 2nd lust. Mr. Robert Port died at the residence of Mrs. Louisa Kelly (with whom he was boarding) on Friday morning, the 1st inst. lie hud been in bad health for some time, but the end cuine un expectedly. His only relative here is Mr. O. M. Fort, a brother. Death of Felix Ransom. On Wednesday, the 29th ult, while Felix Ransom, a well known colored blacksmith, was sitting in Bonnie Reynold's Pool Room, he suddenly fell forward and died in a few tuumeuts. Trantliam was seised with an appoplectic stroke of a serious nature He was brought down to his liouie in upper Cnmden by Capt. Lo riclc as quickly as possible and medical aid summoned. Drs. Dunn and Burnet are the phy sicians in charge. They state, that while there is 110 immedi ate danger, a day or so will be required before a competent opiniou ou the case can be ren dered. Carwile, com mander of the South Carolina division of the United Confede rate Veterans, has issued the following official notice in re gard to the state reunion which is to be held in Greenville, June Otli, 10th and 11th. The general reunion for the southern states will be held in Birmingham, Ala., on June the 9th, 10th and lltli, 1908. All, camps iu this division will, at the earliest possible date, clect their delegates, and' insist upon their attendance. It is the only way we have left of attesting out loyalty to the "lost cause," and our veneration for the heroism and dcvotiou of tho thousands who laid down their lives in its defense. Wo announce further that, tho reunion for South Citrolina di vision will be held in Greenville, S. C. , on August the 12th and 13th, 1908. What has already been sa:d with reference to dele gates of the general reunion, ap plies with double force as to the state reunion. Let us remember also our busi ness obligations. The annuul dues of teu cents should be fowarded at onee to General William E. Miclclo, P. O. box 1198, New Orleans, La.
