The deceased- was not a man of ad vanced years, being only about 67 years old, and when we saw him last, a day or so previous to the attack which ended a useful and beautiful life, he bid fair in appeu ranee to remain with us for many years to come. But the call came. God had work for him elsewhere; or issued the suramous thst transported his blameless spirit heavenward, there to ba&k forever in the light of His presence, enjoying the re ward that comes to all who faith- ' fully serve Him and obey His commands. Death who oft-times comes as a friend, visited the home of Mrs. W. W. Mills on Thursday morning last, and removed from the arena of life Miss Euiily H. Smith, a sister of Mrs. Mills. Miss Smith was a great sufferer for a year or more before her death. Life for her had lost its zest, and she was fully prepared to respond to the call of the grim reaper, and without mur rnering yielded up her spirit to the God who gave it. The body" of Mr. Athol Miller was brought to Cauiden from Florida (where he died last weelr) on Sunday nitrht for burial ou Monday from the residence of his father in-law, Mr. 11. G. Carrison. The death of this young man is a very sad one. He leaves a widow, aud we think, oue child, to whom our sympa thy is sincerely extended. Mrs. Miller was formerly Miss Mar garet Carrisou. The community was shocked to learn on Monday of the Mid deu death of Mrs. Henry E. Beard. While she was known to be in a critical stale of health, her demise was entirely unex pected as she was resting well aud easily when her hustmnd left her perhaps an hour or so previously to go to his place of business. Mrs. Beard whs a do voted wife and mother whose loss will be sadly felt in the home circle, as well as mourned by a ldrge circle of friends. Truly, in life we are in death.
