It was this statement that caused a dispatch to he sent, out from Augusta stating that the ministers el Augusta were indignant and would s*nd a com miltce to Columbia, at the same time > Charging that Mr. Croft waj a re pre t sentallve of liquor interests. Mr. Croft then, road statements from the Aiken pipers, which he said had been written by a prohibitionist which substantiate his position and he presented ailidavits along the same line. Afterwards tlie house passed a resolution indorsing tlie statement made by the Aiken representative and exonerating niin.
