We have examined the jail and find the same to he in a very bad condition, indeed. We find that the walls should he white washed or calsmined and that the building needs scouring amla/great deal of work along this/ line to put if in sanitary conditi/m. We find th" bedding vefy riaree and the venti lation very poor and we urge that this building be given a thorough renovation even if it has to he done by the inmates. Our former rec ommendation in regard to this state of affairs was overlooked and we specially urge and recommend that this recommendation lie given at once the attention thaj it de serves. We find that the road leading from Bells to Lodge, near Mr, (?nld- well’s place to he in impassable con dition and as the same can be re paired at a small cost we recommend that the same he attended to at once and we make the same rf'commendn- t<nn as to they road leading from Gceen Pond to Aene HalL It has been ealle.d to our attention that Mrs. ftusan Walker, with her five small children, is i^i destitute circumstances and is entirely de pendent upon the* ktndness of a fe-.c neighbors and is a burden to the community and we^ recommend that the Highway •.Commissioner and his assistants take the necessary steps to relieve this distress by placing them on the poor farm or appro priating a sum sufficient'each month to ca-e for them until their condi tion is Improved.
