They have nothing to gaic and much to lout in taking a position antago nistic to any office seeking politician for such men always make the news papers pay dearly for their honesty with the people.. They have been hounded down, boycotted, and their editors martyred by just such people, and they have never yet, and never will receive a single atom of appre ciation or reward from those whom they serve. Put more confidence in the integrity and the disinter- eetedness of your newspaper i» the future, and by respecting it. compel ittoitespect you and itself, and it will be your best friend and guide. It it never the enemy of any man who is doing right, never hits to gratify personal feeling, for a news paper has no more personal feeling than a telegraph pole, and is as free from spite.
