I Take No SaSstitutcu. much more interest manifested in our work there now than ] ANTS-BILIOUS MEDICINE, there was this time last year. 1 Last )*ear we met only on first and third Sundays at 10 o’clock, and it was very often 12 o’clock before the Superin tendent would arrive and then it would be too late to have it then, and as a result, we sel dom had Sunday school on the first Sundays, when perhaps a majority of the scholars would be present, and on the third Sundays the Superitendent very seldom came. Then we had an average of eight or ten scholars. Now we are doing a good work. The officers are W. W. Cone. Superinten dent: H. A. Cummings, assis tant Superintendent: Wm. G. Hiers, Secretary and Treas urer; R. R. Miley, Teacher of Class No. i; Mrs. R. R. Miley, Class No. 2; Mrs C. W. Hel ium, Class No. 3; Mrs. G. F. Hiers, Class No. 4; and Leland A. Hiers. Secretary of Class No. 1. Now I have given you the body of workers, and meet every Sunday, and have an en rollment of about sixty or seventy scholars. We, are at present, organiz ing a Home Department for those who cannot or will not go to Sunday school, and which will be a great help to the Sunday school. We now have some going to Sunday school who never knew what Sunday school was here tofore, and by fffc help of God we hope to succeed. Would like to hear from some of your other correspon dents as to what they are doing in this great work, and what they are doing in gener al for the betterment of the community. Hope looks for better things to be. Faith brings us blessings from above. But this is the greatest of the three. For God Himself, comes down in lov<. Leland A. Hiers. ROADSIDE DOTS. Roadside, Aug. 19:—The farmers have had a few fine days of harvesting their fodder, and if they have a few mon they will almost complete tha job. Next comes the cotton which requires time an patience, but the farmers a expecting good prices, an this is the encouragement tha they get from their year' labor. C. L. Langdale has move' his grist mill from Walterboro and is now ready to give you good service ever>' Saturday, and will be glad to?, see you coming with your sacks full. Prayer meeting is every Wednesday night at Roadside school house. Come one, come all. We have organized a Literary Society at this school house. The members are few but earnest workers. August 3rd, in honor of their youngest daughter. Little Mamie Lue; it being her sixth birthday. A host of her little v play mates were invited, and they all played games and had a jolly time until quite late, when they were called to partake of a delightful little luncheon, which consisted of cake, crack ers and fruit.
