The Kind You Have Always ‘ Bears the Signature of corr«r Thirty Yiars BONDS AMICUS WRITES. Cordova, Aug. 20.—D. J. Hughes is quite sick, but he is under the skillful treatment of Dr W L. Mack, and we are hopeful that he will soon re cover. Fodder pulling has been the order of the day lor the past two weeks, but very little has been housed, before, first having hail a shower bath. For a time it seemed as if the hay crop would be almost a failure in this section, but the recent rains have had a ten dency to brighten the pros pects to an appreciable extent. The cotton crop is very fine indeed, rust, however, has been reported as making its appearance on a few farms. The corn crop is, in my opinion, somewhat below the average yield, while occasion ally a man can be heard say ing. “1 have the finest corn I ever grew.” Capt. Norton Haydin’s crop I am told, % will average 75 bushels per acre. Rev F O S Curtis’ visit to this place was very o much en joyed by all the church-going people. His sermons were of a high order and the impres sions that he made for good were many and will be lasting. On account of the illness of Mrs Curtis, he left us one day earlier than was expectea. We are indeed glad that her condition is much improved. Mr Editor, this is a very warm day, indeed. J W Boatwright and charm ing bride visited Branchville Saturday and Sunday as the guest of Mrs Boatwright’s father and mother, Mr and Mrs Daniel Byrd. Newton Gruber of Bethany spent Saturday night and Sun day with his aunt, Mrs L S Linder. Mr and Mrs J W Boat wright of Weeks, attended preaching at Pleasant Grove a few Sundays ago. Mr Boatwright’s many friends are delighted to wel come his bride in our com munity. We hope for the young couple a long, happy and successful lite. Miss Maud Wiggins of Savannah, is visiting the home of A G Yarley. J K Linder of this place, has accepted a position at Bad- ham’s in Dorchester county. Mr and Mrs J F Strickland of this place, are very sick. Mr. Strickland is some better, while Mrs Strickland is very sick yet. Mrs T. Smith of Smoaks, and son, Wade, are visiting Mrs J F Strickland. There was a very enjoyable icecream festival given at the home of A J Linder Saturday afternoon, given in honor of Mr and Mrs Frank K Rentz of Ehrhardt Well Mr Editor, I will close as my letter is getting long.
