Walter Weekley’s drug store, and it spread to the postoffice, Mrs. Taylor’s restaurant, M*. Litchfield’s store, and to the store of W. D. Sanders & Co.. All these buildings were entirely consumed by the flames. It is not known how much insurance was carried on any of these buildings. SAD DEATH OF LITTLE GIRL Adams Run, July 1<I. Special: \ very sad tragic death occurred out at Ueleinars on the evening of May .‘list. Little Florrie, the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Platt, was aceidentily killed By the fatal gun. It,.happened in this way: Robert Platt, son of E. B. Platt, was fitting! on the front piazza steps studying his lessons, he -.aw some Curlews t!y by, so he got hi.- gun, which he placed in a slanting position across the steps, waiting until some more birds should pass. Little Florrie got a l>onk and sat down by Bobbie to show him the pictures. She moved closer to him and her foot struck the gun, which slipjied, sending the load through the little thing. Her sister, Rachel, who was on the piazza, sprang to ward the child, but as she stooped to lift her, the gun fired. She lived about ten minutes after being shot. Poor little Robert was half de mented. and wanted to kill himself. Little Florrie was three years, ten months and six days old. Her parents are almost overwhelmed with grief over the untimely death of their little one. There are seven brothers and five sisters to grieve for little Florrie, besides numerous rela tives and friends, who sympathize deeply with them in this hour of sor row. ° More Anon. THE H. W. The funeral of Mr C. P. Fishbnrne, who was shot by J. W. Messervey at Ravenel last Tuesday night, was con ducted at the Episcopal church here at 10:30 o’c’ock last Thursday morn ing by the Rev. T. P. Baker. The church was crowded with relatives and friends of the deceased. Mr. Fishburne leaves u widow and four children Messrs Elliott Fishburne of Scotia, and Claire Fishburne of Esteil and two daughters. Misses Lizzie and Ulmer Fishburne, who were all present at the funeral. Mrs. Fishburne's brother and sister, Mr. Elliott Solomons ot Savannah, (ia.. and Miss Tudie Solomons of Estill were also present at the funeral services. Mr. Fishburne is also sur vived by a brother, Hon. William J. Fishburne and a sister, Mrs. E. L. Lucas. He was f>3 ycars old and was re garde 1 as one of the foremost men of the town. HYRNE, ACT. Concord Nurseries, Walterboro, : S. C. DEATH OF MR. ALTMAN. It was with sad hearts that we gathered at the church in Ravenel to day our last tribute of respect to J D. Altman, who died in the in ti rmey at Charleston, on Friday July 9th. Mr Altman remains were brought up on Saturday morning’s train, and laid to rest in the Metho dist church yard beneath a beautiful oak tree. The church could not hold the crowd of sorrowing rela tives and friends gathered there. There were present his four sons James. Banister, John and Thad of Charleston, w-ith their wives and children also his four daughters, Meadames Mellard, Ogburn, Beach and Smith, with their families, also j other relatives. Mr Altman had celebrated his 80th birthday on June 16. The floral offerings tho’ not a great ifuantity, were very choice. The service was conducted by the Rev E G P Watson of Charleston, his sermond was simply grand and was listened to with profound interest. Music w’as rendered by Mrs P J God frey, which was very sweet. The pall bearers were Messers D H Towdek, P M Murray, P J Godfrey, Walter Gilmore, George Ackerman. A. S. B.
