If this evil is removed from before these boys they, or many of them, will never know what the effects of this ac cursed thing is. How easy it is for even older ones of us to do as those around us are doing Will not the younger ones more readily fall into line and take up habits that are hurtful? Can we content ourselves with the thought that tomorrow* the cause of temperance will prevail, while we stand idle and seenotr own children dragged down by this drink habit that is destroying thousands of noble young men annually, causing them to fill an untimely grave, and have to meet the great Judge un- prep ared? Ah! we say, “prohibition is com ing, it is coming,” but brother it may be too late for your boy, and my boy, when it gets here. “Pro crastination is the theif of time.” Knowing this/shall we sleep on and some day that same now happy and bright innocent boy will, in a most awful and horrifying manner, point to us as parents, unworthy the trust committed to us? Namely, the care and training of our offsprings. Souls of whom will exist throughout all eternity. Not n.en. but measures! are we arraigned against in this mighty warfare. For love which worketh no ill to his neighbor should constrain us to act accerJingly. It m ty be w ith some of us that we have to take up arms of a spiritual war fare against some oi a cimtrary opinion, who, according to our earthly ties, are nearer to us than others of our own opinion. “But he that taketh not up his cross and followeth the Lord is not worthy of Him.” “The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Jet us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us wralk honestly as in the day; not in rioting, and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Rom. xiii-12-13-14. If the Great Apostle in His day saw it necessary to write such words of admonition to the early church, can it be that words with less force is sufficient for this our day, in the face of facts and multiplied evile at tending the manufacturing sale and consumption of spirituous liquoas and its effects on us. Now, to the friends of this great temperance movement; to opposers of same: to those now on the fence, to all, when we stand before the great judge of ail the earth, and the 3 uestion is asked, what have we one—what shall our answers be? From man’s earliest existance in temperance has been his chief stumb ling Lock, and today it is the curse of the nation. Notwithstanding much has been and is being done for his uplift, still he staggers under its influence and sting and many go down under its load- This being true, evidently, vbur duty is to get out of man’s inhumanity to man.” For the sake of that craving ap petite, or the devil’s graft, you are willing for your fellow man, even foot family, to sink with you. This is true with every drunkard, and every encourager of the whiskey problem. No temperate man can be neutral notwithstanding ma^y claims this, bat they cannot serve two masters: they are either for or against it, ana hy their fruits we know them hence pen- mg 80 feet on east and west lin.s, and 210 feet on the north and smith lines; and bounded, north by C W Butler, formerly Rivers, east by street, south by Johnson, and west by lot of Mrs A B Graves.
