It seems that the people of Bam berg, Ehrhadt and Denmark are de termined to build the proposed rail road from Ehrhardt to Denmark whether or not Walterborogives any assistance. The people of these places cannot understand why it is that Walterboro has shown so little inter est in this proposed road, though the corporators are, we believe from Walterboro. It is a useless waste of words to * argue the need we have for such an outlet. There seems to us no good reason why some of our moneyed men should not put some of their means into a project that will be of eo much worth to Walterboro. If there are private interests here that fear competition # we would lay down tide broad proposition which would be a aafe guide to follow: That which opposes progress or improve ment in a matter of targe interests for the sake of private gain, and those enterprises which fear compe tition and would thwart It by oppos- ting progress, will sooner or later fail anyway.
