Before the meet ing cloeed some difference of opin ion arose ns to the terminus of the road, whether it should be Bamberg or Denmark. Some of those present favored Denmark as the terminus, while others thought this too much of an undertaking, but wanted to bnild the Bamberg-Ehrhardt line first, and then if found expedient extend it on to Denmark. All seem ed much interested in the r< a J, and it is likely that they will get together. Mr.C. Ehrhardt and Dr. J.L. Cope land were present as representatives of the town of Ehrhardt and stated that their town wanted the road, but wanted it to go to Denmark and not atop at Bamberg; that Ehrhardt’s business men would support the scheme and subscribe liberally to the capital stock if .the road went to Denmark via Bamberg, but not otherwise. Hon. C. W. Garris of Denmark was present and made an interesting ■and practical speech, giving his ideas as to the proper methods, of pro cedure in the building and financing of the road. He said no assistance dr encouragement could be expected from the Atlantic Coast Line or Southern, but that a connection at Denmark with the Seaboard Air Line might be very valuable to the towns affected. > No representatives from Waiter- bora were present. It seems that town is not interested in the project. Hr. Let that be as it may, it is not essential to a college course every time for suc cessful teachiug, for we kuow some of the best teachers in our county are not graduates. In the third century after the conquest a part of the old in flection had disappeared and a few French words had been it • traduced. This was called the old English Period. But a century or two after, French wprds were mixed with the native language and the accent wai reduced to level •• that of the t day. The number of French words increased up to the middle English ^Period, then it began to borrow words from the Latin. Thus ve see the English language it largely made np of other* and having these resour ces it is only natural that the blending should result id a pecu liar richness and delicacy of ex pression, a number of words would be needed to exprern what is peculiar to Amerirca but these so called Americanisms will never increase to any great extent for not inly the active intercourse with other countries but the habit of reading, (and we certain ly of good literature )will enable us to. keep our language in har mony with tbe common 1 manage of literature. Pleasant Party Spent Day (this Delightful Reeort - The train of the Atlantic Coast Line, which left here at 6.30 o’clock Monday morning, carried,in addition to the other passengers, a pleasant party to Rantowles. There was a bevy of beauty, chaperoned by a charming and gifted lady, four at tractive young men and four others of the sterner sex. They were met at the station by Col Moultrie J.
