Even ^ that number is all too small. The total army is not large enough to police half a dozen large cities. Of course, J .' case of war our army would be but the skeleton upon which to build an adequate army. It is not sufficient ' for that when cut to less than 150,000. The present army of 12.000 officers ^ and 125,000 men is inadequate, even A when no war threatens. > Able scholars the world has, many ( of them. Great thinkers, driving the benefits of their discoveries to mankind are worthy to receive the homage of men. We would not take from such individuals the least bit of honor due them. But there are In the world charletans whose only claim to greatness is the noise they make. They are the product of modern methods of advertising:.
