The father scratched his old bald head, And said "I can't afford her." Then Ma. she said, "Pa, if you will, I'll take another boarder." The teacher said, "I've got a hunch, I do not think I'm fooled, Sir, We'll use the milk in our Hot Lunch, And have a better school, Sir." The doctor said, "This child needs milk, That's why it keeps on crying; You'll see it fatten in a month, Instead of nearly dying." The merchant said, "My dear Mrs. Jones, I need good country butter. Over here, over here, Buy a cow to feed the babies so dear Give her good sweet clover, and rub her all over, And give her water cool and clear, Scald your pans, wash your hands, Set your churn in the sun when you're done, Then mould your butter and eat your supper, And you'll sure feel good if you own a family cow. s Girls Club Song. Tune?Keep the Home Fires Burning There were club boys on the hillside, There were club boys on the plain, And the country found them ready At the call for meat and grain, Let no one forget their service, As the club boys pass along, For although the war is over, They are singing still this song: "Keep the home-cow milking, And the club corn silking, Tell the idle boys and girls We work for home; There's a club pig growing, While the grain we're sowing Boost the club work day and night, Till we LIVE AT HOME." There were club girls near the roadside, There were club girls by the woods, And the country found them ready At the call for "fighting food," Let no one forget their chickens As the club girls pass along, And although the "bugs" are many, They are singing still this song: "Keep the baby chicks growing, While the rooster's crowing, We work at home; Push the yearly garden While your muscles harden Fight tomato bugs and blight Till we LIVE AT HOME." Reason Enough. Manager?Thomson, you are dis-j charged. Clerk? But I've done nothing, sir; absolutely nothing. Mnager?Exactly.
