The cost was _ approximately $12,000. "This type of waterworks system brought in absolutely no returns so far as the receipts from selling water was concerned. But, from the standpoint of'fire protection, w,e do not 1 think that any one will argue that it has not fully paid for itself. e "The ideal water system, of course, * is one that will supply sanitary water for drinking purposes and a good, quality of soft, stainless water for Y commercial purposes, as well as furnish fire protection. With a sys tern like this it is not a hard matter r to make a waterworks business selfsustaining on account of the sale of r water. "With this idea in view, we enclosed our reservoir some time ago e in order to keep the water clean and e sell it for commercial purposes only. We have been very successful in this, as our receipts for the past month are at the rate of $800 per year. "With a water system supplying a good drinking water the receipts * could be greatly increased, as the * water is used only for commercial purposes at present and a great many s would subscribe if the water could h be used for drinking purposes, s "The new bond issue is for $15,000. The bond issue for the present water plant was $7,000. The dife ference between $7,000 and $12,000 1 was paid by the commissioners. Then the total bond issue covering the s plant which we are planning will be t $22,000. In case these bonds do not bring over 6 per cent., par, the in terest will amount to $1,350 per i year. "Now with this increase in business on .Main street, on account of a v sanitary drinking system, and the new business obtained by extending s the lines through the residential sece tion of the town it should be an easy i ' matter to ncrease the receipts from $800 to $1,350, which will be neces1 sary to make up the additional in l. terest. a "In order not to be misleading, i- we will say here that the business on Main street is much greater in ?w?r?mmmmamrmmtmtmf??w?ri???imam* m*ma pmmam?
