A stream was turned into the burning part of the building and apparently the fire was under control when there was a terrific explosion that scat tered burning chemicals over a ra dius of 300 feet. It is believed the- action of the water caused chemical action of the dyestuffs. Some of the firemen were so badly burned that they will be dis figured for life, it was said.
