ton Berger.
The firemen were called when a
blaze wa 4 s discovered in the caustic
soda and indigo mill. A stream
was turned into the burning part
of the building and apparently the
fire was under control when there
was a terrific explosion that scat
tered burning chemicals over a ra
dius of 300 feet. It is believed the-
action of the water caused chemical
action of the dyestuffs.
Some of the firemen were so
badly burned that they will be dis
figured for life, it was said.

gestion by Harvie Jordan, secretary
treasurer of the American Cotton as
sociation, President Coolidge intfmat-
•I ed that he would in his forthcoming
message to congress, urge that effec- j

in full sympathy with the movement
