They think they are different from others. People who live in a fool’s paradise often find the environment quite nat ural to them. Regardless of the bright rays of the moon that creep into many cellars, 1021 remains comparatively sober. Colonel House is entitled to fame in at least one respect. He has made it possible for Medill McCormick to play second fiddle. If immigrants were allowed to bring their booze with them no doubt a qon- siderable fund could be promptly raised to facilitate their arrival. The time is rapidly approaching when Mr. Taft and Mr. Wilson can form a club the membership of which will be more exclusive than any other in existence. Certain statesmen who have been in the habit of enjoying the limelight of publicity are kicking vociferously over the plans for Mr. Harding’s in auguration. But why should we de ny them the sad privilege of throwing a last expiring spasm at their own obsequies ? Charter No. 11287. REPORT OF CONDmotfNDF THE Reserve District No, 5. | t A Sad Death. The relatives and friends of James L. Still, were greatly shocked and grieved to hear of his death which occurred about noon on Tuesday, Jan. 4th. He was instantly killed by a fal ling tree in a field near his home where he had been working. He left his home early Tuesday morning -and went in the field where he had a young man, Jim Baxley, cutting stalks. He had Baxley to leave that field and go to another one near by until he him self could burn a lightwood tree which seemed to be in his way. Baxley did so and stated that he heard the tree fall about half an hour before he went back. He found him dead, in a sit ting position, with his face buried in the dirt, although after the tree struck him it fell yver on the ground. Al most every limb in his body and his neck, back and both legs were broken, and his chest, one cheek and skull were crushed. It seemes as if he had gone near t,bg small bttsfeaisfti'S'^xc r wn^T5umI in the .fire. His sweater was scorched and nhi right hand and face badly burned. He was found just in time to save his ftWly from cremation. Thefuneral was preached by his pastor. Rev. D. W. Heckle, in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives, his body being biid to rest in the Friend- Wed nesday afternoon V/ ol the Mil sonic lodge.
