As soon as Secretary Houston's at tention was called to the fact that a false rumor was being circulated in the South to the effect that he had ex pressed an opinion on a price for cot ton, he immediately gave out the fol lowing statement: "A statement concerning cotton price fixing appearing in a Washing- ton paper on Saturday to the effect that it was understood that Secre tary Houston had expressed the opin ion that 25 cents would be a fair price for this year's cotton. Miller made a very forceful address, citing numerous in stances of the cruelty of the Hun and telling of experiences on the firing line. He was generously applauded during and at the conclusion of his address. j The Hon. Dan. S. Henderson, of Ai ken, was the next speaker. It is use less to elaborate on the excellence of his speech, as his reputation as an orator is well known throughout this section.
