One of the saddest accidents that ever occurred in Barnwell County. Was the burning to death of little Coye Diamond, the stX-year edd daughter <>f Mr, and Mrs. M. C. Diamond who Tive about four miles East of Barn well. The tragedy took place about five o’clock ’ in the afternoon when Mrs. Diamond and her little daughter, Coye,- went out into the back yard to get some wood to build a fire. Little Coye took an armful of wood and car ried it in the house, and while build ing a fire, her dress caught. She in stantly ran out of the house and be fore any one could reach her and ex tinguish the flames; she was so thor oughly crisp that her clothes could scarcely be taken off. She died a few hours later in spite of all that loving hands could do to save her. The funeral took place at ML Oli vet Church, Saturday, afternoon, con ducted by Rev. W. L. Hayes. The entire community was saddened by this untimely tragic death, and all the friends and acquaintances of Mr. and Mrs. Diamond extend their sympathy to them in their sad bereavement.
