Special to The People. WilHston, July 17.—On the evening before the wedding of Mias Madelle Ladle Weathers bee to Marshall Loy Bolkk, of Conover, N. C., the parents of the bride entertained at a brilliant reception in honor of their daughter. The guestp were receivd in the draw ing room bjr Mr,., and Mrs. Weathers- bee, the bride and groom and the brid al party. Prom here they were taken into the music room where a most cost ly and beautiful array of presents, consisting of silver, china and cut glass, was displayed, showing the high efteem in which the young couple are held by their fpiends. They Jthen en- ; tfcrod the dining room where they were served block cream, cake and mints by young friends of the bride. Punch was served on the piazza beneath a lovely bower of white and green by Misses Alberta Owens and Mary Har vey Newson. Immediately after the reception the groom entertained his friends at a smoker at the Williston hotel. The out-of-town guests at the wed ding besides the attendants, included Mrs. Alfred Owens, grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Hugh Phillips and Dr. Clagence J. Owens aunt and uncle of the bride, all of Washingtonr, D. C.; Mr*. William Parker, Mrs. Lee Easter ling, Mr. and‘Mrs. Charlie Brown and Mr and Mrs. H. D. UPSON PROCESSED WALL BOARD. | V ’ ">T T "T" Catalogue Fi v$o 0»»o»o»4»»oo4oe»»»e+»»ee +»»»»++»♦»» Allendale, July 13.—A party of farmers and business men of this com munity paid a visit last week to the boll weevil infested district* of Ala bama and Georgia, for the purpose of investgating the agricultural and bus iness conditions and to witness the demonstrations of a machine for cap turing and destroying the boll w'eevil. The machine was invented by a young man of Greensboro, Ala. It is simple in construction and efficient in opera tion, consisting of two pan-like recep tacles suspended from, a two-wheel conveyor. In operation the pans are pulled along, one on cither side of a row of cotton, the machine operating paddle wheels which rustle the limbs of the plant, causing the weevil to drop into water and oil in the pan. The party visited Greensboro at the invi tation of the* company manufacturing the machine and were entertained by the company while there, a barbecue being one feature of the entertain ment, at which the mayor acted as toastmaster. R. P. Searson, of Allen dale, responded. Some of the farm ers of Alabama who had made use of the catcher stated that it could be made to destroy about 75 per cent, of the weevils infesting the plants. It ia stated that a stock company has been formed by the business men of Allendale and the State right ob tained for selling the machines in South Carolina. The party making the trip consisted of J.
